Alta Wellness Center specializes in helping children and teens, including those with autism, cope with and overcome mental health challenges. Our therapists, instructors, and technicians have years of experience treating and supporting thousands of kids and adolescents in the Las Vegas community.
We provide classes in a small group setting as well as individual services. The Healing through Art classes are facilitated by a licensed psychotherapist, and the yoga and meditation classes are led by a certified yoga instructor. A licensed behavior analyst will also participate in the classes for children with autism so that additional support can be provided if necessary.
The classes that we provide are:
Relaxation Yoga - Relaxation yoga is a form of yoga that seeks to achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation with the aid of props, such as yoga blocks, bolsters, yoga straps, and blankets. The use of props makes it easier for you to maintain balance while you are stimulating and relaxing your body. This practice provides healing for the body and the mind. It is especially useful when you need to eliminate fatigue, stress, and anxiety that can result from your daily activities. It can also help you recover from illness and injury, or overcome stresses from everyday life, or an emotional event. This type of yoga will make your body less vulnerable to stress-related illnesses and will help you achieve optimal health.
Healing through Art - Let your creative juices flow in our open art studio! Creating art gives people a sense of control, purpose, and accomplishment when life circumstances leave them feeling powerless. Use this nonjudgmental space for whatever creative process fits your needs. You do not need to be an artist to participate. Supplies will be provided, but you are always welcome to bring your own.
Meditation - Meditation is a practice of concentrated focus upon a sound, object, visualization, the breath, movement, or attention itself in order to increase awareness of the present moment, to reduce stress, anxiety, and negative thoughts as well as to promote relaxation and enhance personal and spiritual growth.
The individual services that we provide are:
Neurofeedback Training - Neurofeedback is a fun and painless brain-training method for children, teens, and adults of all ages that uses non-invasive external sensors to observe and regulate brain wave activity while you are watching a video, playing a video game, or listening to music. If you suffer from anxiety, depression, ADHD, headaches, insomnia, pain, or other mental health issues, some of your brain waves are most likely either too active or not active enough. Neurofeedback trains the brain waves to be firing at the correct and optimal levels so that your symptoms will improve

"Alta's therapist facilitators are amazing and the classes are very high quality. They seem to be at the level of college classes."
"I really like the fact that each class covers important and useful issues that are helpful to me and that I don't have to spend a lot of time explaining about and analyzing my past like I've had to do in therapy."
Alta Wellness Center's mission is to help children and teens overcome life's obstacles and strengthen their relationships with their family and friends. Our goal is to provide children and teens with the knowledge and tools to lead a healthy, happy, and fulfilling life.
Massage Therapy - Massage therapy is the scientific manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, consisting primarily of manual (hands-on) techniques such as applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, and moving muscles and body tissues. Generally, massage is delivered to improve the flow of blood and lymph fluid in lymph glands to reduce muscular tension or flaccidity, to affect the nervous system through stimulation or sedation, and to enhance tissue healing. Therapeutic massage may be recommended for children and adults to deliver benefits such as relieving points of tension and overall stress to induce relaxation, reducing emotional or physical stress and reducing anxiety, promoting feelings of well-being, promoting deeper and easier breathing, relieving tension-related headaches and eyestrain, and increasing awareness of the mind-body connection and improving mental awareness and alertness. Parents who may not have experienced therapeutic massage themselves or who have doubts about its effectiveness may be interested in the results of research studies, particularly those conducted on groups of children. Well designed studies have documented the benefits of massage therapy for the treatment of acute and chronic pain, acute and chronic inflammation, nausea, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and psychoemotional stress, which may aggravate mental illness.
